Online Media refers to online media where users act as communicators or narrators of stories, content, experiences, articles, images, and videos they create themselves, or find from other media and share with others within their networks via online social networks that are available online. Currently, this type of communication is done via the Internet and is commonly used on mobile phones.
Online Networks refer to online networks or services that connect many people together through the Internet. Everyone can easily and quickly communicate and receive information.

Development and Types of Online Media
Since the development of high-speed computer networks in the late 1990s, more websites have been created that allow users to create and present their own content on the Internet, such as in 1997 Six Degrees.com was the first online social media platform available. Since 2002, an increasing number of online media platforms have been created and expanded, including both open online media for all target groups and those focused on specific interests, such as Friendster and Hubculture in the early 2000s. Social media platforms have diversified usage, with some platforms experiencing a significant increase in users, such as Facebook, which in September 2017 had approximately 1.19 billion users, and Twitter, which in September 2017 had over 230 million users.

Online Media Changes the World and May Change Your Life
Today, social media (Social media or Social Network) such as Facebook, Line, Twitter, Google+, Instagram, YouTube, etc. play a significant role in the communication system, allowing us to connect relationships widely without being limited by time, place, and device. It brings family, friends, and relatives closer together even for those who are not accustomed to using smartphones, beginning to see the importance of such devices. One could say that social media has profoundly changed the world of communication, especially for organizations at risk concerning security and organizational image due to employees' misuse of social media. Additionally, the online community is no different from the real world, containing both good and bad individuals, misleading news, and propagating sensationalism. The rapid spread of information, especially negative information, can be challenging to address should it arise concerning our organization. Hence many organizations are now beginning to establish frameworks regarding social media guidelines for employees to follow to understand the potential risks, ensuring that they navigate these platforms safely and responsibly.
The Role of Social Media will increasingly participate in the daily lives of individuals, yet there may be changes in the types of social media utilized in response to the trends of diverse user groups and advancements in information and communication technology. Social media has both advantages and disadvantages, potentially impacting society, the economy, computer crime, and security in both positive and negative aspects. However, by leveraging the benefits and positive outcomes for communicating information from government agencies to the public while mitigating disadvantages and preventing negative impacts, social media can serve as an essential channel supporting existing primary media, creating opportunities for agencies to communicate with the public and reach various target groups more effectively.
